The Isle of Glass - Artistically Designed Dichroic Glass Jewelry

About The "Isle Of Glass"

My name is Kevin Humes, I chose the name "The Isle Of Glass" originally because it sounds like I Love Glass, which I do... I really was not aware until I began building this website that The Isle of Glass is also known as Glastonberry, an ancient holy site. The Isle of Glass has a rich history which includes the legend of King Arthur where he took refuge to heal after mortally wounded, and his actual tomb was discovered.

Another reason I chose the name was that Italian Glassblowers over 1000 years ago in the birthplace of Murano Glass, were segregated on an island  to prevent them from sharing their secrets. (sounds like a party to me)

The creation of This Ethereal Isle has been my retreat, and place to heal as well, from a hellish tale I will eventually share, here... It is Truely Only through My art and love of glass that I was able to focus on somthing positive, and get passed the ugliness. As you see, to me, the name has many relevant contexts. For more information about the legend of The Isle of Glass, check out this site:

The Isle Of Glass began as an obsession with stone cutting, and a desire to open an on line store that provides Truly Unique Jewels of inspired craftsmanship.  I began working in Dichroic Glass in 2002, and it has become an (almost)  full time obsession, giving classes, installing exhibits, creating fundraisers, and placing my work in new galleries, (please see my press releases)... With the unifying theme that, like opals, no  two pieces are ever alike.

I have been installing exhibits of the works of local artists as well as my own at Galleries and Libraries to create fund raisers for the library system, Blood/Water Mission that builds clean water wells across the globe, and The Gold Star mothers Healing and Peace Garden Project,I will be updating the website with MUCH more information about these projects in the near future.

As if all this wasn't cool enough, I stumbled into an extraordinary opportunity to install the original photo sculptural works of David Meanix used in the HBO Hit Series Six Feet under, at the Glatfelter Memorial Library, with their help was actually was able to negotiate a copy of these otherwise NOT AVAILABLE FOR COMMERCIAL SALE Prints, to be auctioned with HBO and The Actors Permission, to benefit the Library 100%. Thanks HBO, Dave Meanix, and Francis Conroy!
